EnviroVantage's Black Mold Services

Mold on the roof sheathing and rafters is usually a result of poor ventilation, improperly venting fans, insufficient insulation, or a combination of these factors. Attic mold is commonly discovered during a home inspection or renovation.

If you suspect you have attic mold — or you don’t have any visual signs but may suffer from allergy-like symptoms that can’t be explained — you can opt to hire a certified mold inspector. This expert will conduct scientific air sampling, collecting samples that will be analyzed in a lab. In the case of attic mold, visual signs of mold are likely the only way to determine if there is an issue since Cladosporium, the most common type of mold found in attics, is odorless.

It’s important to tackle a mold problem as early as possible. Certain mold spores — especially those with an elevated concentration — have been found to cause health problems such as a runny or blocked nose, watery or red eyes, a dry cough, skin rashes, a sore throat, sinusitis, wheezing, asthma, and/or pneumonia.

If you can see the mold, regardless of its type, we encourage you to contact us directly, and we’ll be happy to come out and inspect the area — free of charge.

Attic Mold Removal Costs

The cost of removing mold will depend on two factors: the location of the mold in your attic and how much is present. Cost can range anywhere from $1,500 to $10,000, so it’s best to contact us about your specific situation.

What is the Process for Removing Attic Mold?

If mold is visible, the inspection process is not necessarily a long one. We can come to your home (free of charge), look at the area in question, and determine the next steps for mold removal. All of this can take place within a day or two, and we can schedule mold removal for the following day or within the next week, depending on our work load.

The process for removing attic mold is the same as any other space in your home. Here’s an overview of what you can expect with EnviroVantage:

  • Identify and locate the source that allowed the mold to grow in the first place.
  • Form a detailed strategy by identifying the necessary steps to correct the issue, materials that are needed for removal or sanitation, and methods of reducing the risk of future mold growth.
  • Remove the mold through one of our numerous methods, such as:
    ·      Eliminating impacted materials
    ·      Using chemicals and dry ice treatments
    ·      Dehumidification
    ·      Using hydroxyl generators
    ·      Applying mold-resistant coatings
  • Provide an independent verification process to prove the work was successful. We can hire an independent mold investigator, otherwise known as a hygienist, who can perform post-remediation verification. This provides us with a visual assessment of the work zone, as well as air and surface samples.
