Clean Air in Homes Does Not Include High Levels of Mold

Mold is a natural part of the environment and can be found all around us. However, its presence in elevated levels in people’s homes can lead to problems and concerns for family members and may indicate a moisture problem within the home.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “Some people are sensitive to molds. For these people, exposure to molds can cause symptoms such as nasal stuffiness, eye irritation, wheezing, or skin irritation. Some people, such as those with serious allergies to molds, may have more severe reactions.” The agency goes on to state, “Severe reactions may include fever and shortness of breath. Some people with chronic lung illnesses, such as obstructive lung disease, may develop mold infections in their lungs.”

Homes with mold problems may also develop high levels of microbial contaminants in their HVAC system. In some circumstances, the problem may even be the result of a moisture problem directly in the HVAC system or ducts. For these reasons, it is important that a home’s mechanical system be inspected for potential issues.

“EnviroVantage is known across New England as one of the leading mold remediation and decontamination companies,” said Daniel Greenblatt, President of EnviroVantage. “We have specialists who perform sensitive mold remediation projects, mechanical hygiene inspections and duct cleaning services.
